tea, elevated

tea has been my longtime choice drink for breakfast, treats, afternoon pick-me-ups, or bedtime. the varieties abound, sure to complement the weather, season, food, or my mood. english breakfast - an everyday comfort. earl grey - instant spice on a chilly day. honey chamomile - bedtime has arrived. rosebud - iced tea in all its glory.

as much as i enjoy tea, depend on tea, and incorporate tea into my daily life, something has been missing for quite some time. the tea latte.

i've never been fond of dressing my tea with additives: lemon, honey, sugar. tea, straight up, in its minimally or highly brewed state, has been enough. but there are those moments when i do want something more, when adding soy or almond milk changes its profile so i'm drinking something a bit more vibrant. a bit more rich.

adding milk to my tea always seemed special - like i was celebrating simplicity with a splash of sophistication. so why did it never occur to me to embrace the tea latte? tea with steamed milk for goodness' sakes! PLUS the benefit of luxurious foam!

i finally crawled out of the playpen to discover a tantalizing world. my first tea latte undoubtedly made something tingle within. velevty. purposeful. innocence meets passion. i savored its creaminess, first working through the cloud of foam, finally meeting my dear - and dare i say, sensual - friend. welcome back, fall. i trust it's going to be a cozy season with these tea lattes and all.
