becoming an angeleno

never in my wildest dreams have i imagined reaching a point where i would consider myself an angeleno. and let me tell you, i have had my fair share of wild dreams! but today is a perfect example of why i love la, why i feel like i can identify with this city.

when i woke up this morning, i had already planned to go to sunset yoga on the terrace of the fowler museum. sounds like pure bliss, i know. yoga, at sunset, outdoors, at no cost at all. i knew it was going to be a great day. but then something else caught  my attention: live jazz in the lovely, intimate courtyard of the hammer museum. again, free! although i felt like i had reached a crossroad - a fork in the road, if you will - i couldn't help but smile at the thought of spending an evening doing one of two absolutely glorious things in one of two absolutely magical places: yoga at fowler or jazz at the hammer.

after much deliberation, i decided to go to the outdoor jazz concert. and WOW was it delightful! wine, candles, slight breeze and a hint of fog - creating the perfect backdrop for the seductive music and its hypnotized throng. i chatted with some people, bobbed my head, tapped my foot, and melted inside. a truly relaxing night.

and that is why i love being an angeleno. there is always something to discover, always something to do. there are gems in the rough. people to meet. stories to share. food to eat. maybe free or perhaps far from my budget. regardless, the experiences i've had thus far as an angeleno are priceless.

  1. This is exactly why I love LA, too! I've experienced the wonderful (and free!) jazz sessions at the Hammer as well. Amazing! Erica, I've continued to read your blogs and I love every single one! :)

    Take care!!
